28 An FOE Open Day II

Title: FOE Open Day

Theme: MMU Faculty of Engineering, Cyberjaya

In this assgmnt we are needed to make a digital wallpaper promoting our own faculty during faculty’s open day. In this part of work, I was inspired by one of my favorite football club site.

Final output

First, set up a black colored BG of an a4 size canvas (297mm * 210mm). Open an image which I think best suits the theme (even though it is not a real faculty building) which is modern. This image is taken during a weekend so that’s why no car parked in front of the building. As for those who wants to know, this is a new Administration Building of MMU Cyberjaya.

Then i reduced into black & white using Hue & Saturation technique. Instead of a quick grayscale mode, I must find that this H&S technique is a good way practice

Remove the sky

Remove skyline from an image to make way on text later on. Done by using selection using Magic Wand Tool.

2 layers added and silhouette

Adding a couple of layers from my library to produce a dark edges and rough surfaces on image. This layers usually being used in my recent photo editing technique because i find it ‘imperfect’. Blend it using Overlay. Selection on two human figures and reduce its Lightness to 0.

Select the sky again by clicking Ctrl + 1st layer of image.  This time to reduce the contrast in the ’sky’ because I found it was too dark. Inserting text. Changes on 1st layer into red color using Hue & Saturation, check Colorize. Faculty of Engineering headline is using inner shadow.

Simplify the BG

Now inserting some more layers of image and more text. Circuit shows the Electronic/Electric element into BG. Adding more elements to enrich the wallpaper

Circuit board is rotated into a right angle and being blend using Soft Light.

Adding a finishing touch, perhaps some info regarding the FOE Open Day. Further adjustment is done later on such as fonts, sizes, colors, informations & etc.

1st draft

It was quite enjoy doing this wallpaper even though it took several nights of my sleep. I am not going to print this anyhow…
